Established in August 1992, Cinema Nova is the largest independent cinema in the Southern Hemisphere and is Melbourne's go-to for the best of local and international cinema, and alternate content.
Cinema Nova is fully licensed from 12pm, allowing alcoholic beverages to be taken into most sessions. With a wine-list that is curated with as much care as the films we screen, every visit to Nova has a sense of occasion. From our famous house-made choc tops, voted the best in Melbourne by The Age to our Nova Bar where you can indulge in cocktails and barista-made coffee, you can combine your love of cinema with the best in food and beverages.
Cinema Nova was among the first cinemas in the country to start screening stage productions and art from around the world, and we now draw thousands to see New York’s Met Opera, London’s National Theatre and go behind-the-scenes with the world’s best art galleries and museums.
